A candidate who will lead with integrity and work hard to earn your trust.
F: Fair - As Justice of the Peace, I will decide cases fairly and uphold the position with integrity. I will take the time to listen to each party and evaluate all of the evidence before making a decision based on the rule of law. Every person who walks into my courtroom will feel valued and heard. I pledge to treat every person with dignity and respect their right to due process of the law. As judge, I will administer justice in a swift and efficient manner.
A: Accessible - I will work to make the justice court more accessible and easier for the community to navigate through the use of online forms, simple payment options, and extended hours. If elected, I will be available beyond typical business hours, 365 days a year. I will receive and provide staff with ongoing training in current court procedures to reduce the backlog and ensure cases are being processed with efficiency. As judge, I pledge to work smarter, faster and harder with accuracy to ensure residents have a quality courtroom experience.
I: Innovative - I will come up with innovative approaches to improve the courtroom experience and draw from best practices from JP courts across the state of Texas. I will also provide fair accommodations to individuals with unique health needs. I will ensure that individuals with mental health challenges receive the proper treatment when the situation necessitates court intervention .
R: Responsive - I will work hard to earn the community's trust and be responsive to your needs. I will bring a community-centered approach to the bench. The global health pandemic has further exacerbated the challenges facing our community. With evictions at an all-time high and students missing out on valuable learning time, I will be proactive in sharing community resources to support with housing needs as well as work with a diverse range of stakeholders including schools, counselors, teachers and parents to address truancy issues. As judge, I will expand youth mentoring opportunities and provide meaningful alternatives to probation for at-risk youth. I will be compassionate and fair in administering justice while keeping our community safe.
